A long-time member of the midfield ranks at Chelsea has agreed to the personal terms of a contract with Premier League rivals Manchester City, according to reports.
The Blues star in question? Mateo Kovacic.
Surprise speculation has of course quickly spread over the course of the last couple of weeks, pointing towards Kovacic taking his talents to The Etihad.
As Pep Guardiola eyes engine room reinforcements with a view to next season – amid ongoing doubts surrounding the future of Ilkay Gundogan – Chelsea’s Croatian standout is understood to have been identified as a priority target.
Not only that, but the powers that be at Stamford Bridge are open to doing business with their counterparts on the blue half of Manchester.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media late on Thursday is anything to go by, then a deal between the parties now appears closer than ever before to coming to fruition.
The Italian reports that Kovacic ‘has now agreed personal terms with Manchester City’.
The 29-year-old, for his part, is in turn pushing for the move, with a fresh round of discussions between Chelsea and Man City pencilled in for after the latter’s Champions League final showdown with Inter Milan.
