Premier League giants Manchester United have seen a considerable offer for Ajax star Antony rejected by the Dutch champions, according to reports.

The summer window, to date, has of course proven one of frustration at Old Trafford.

Having come up short in pursuit of a whole host of key targets, most notably Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, the Red Devils have since slipped to an alarming pair of successive defeats to open the campaign.

Not only that, but attacking talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has too made clear his desire to seal a departure before the window slams shut.

As a result, it is safe to say that some positive news when it comes to potential incomings this week would no doubt have been met with widespread celebration on the red half of Manchester.

Unfortunately for those of a United persuasion, though, on Thursday, yet another disappointing update has been confirmed on the transfer front.

The bid, however, was swiftly rebuffed by the powers that be in Amsterdam.

This comes with Ajax having reiterated their stance that Antony is absolutely not for sale, after Man United lured star defender Lisandro Martinez to Old Trafford already this summer.

In turn, it is claimed that:

‘Old Trafford chiefs are not optimistic in prising Antony from Amsterdam after their fresh approach was knocked back.’
