Highly-regarded TSG 1899 Hoffenheim star David Raum is on the verge of a departure from the club, according to reports.

For those not aware, left-back Raum has been hotly tipped for a Rhein-Neckar-Arena exit over the course of the last couple of months.

This comes with the German international, fresh off a stellar debut campaign in the Bundesliga, having seen his production pique the attentions of a whole host of European football’s heavyweights.

The 2021/22 German top-flight season saw Raum rack up three goals and a hefty 13 assists, as the 24-year-old went about establishing himself as one of the division’s most productive wide players.

And one such club understood to have taken their place towards the top of the gifted full-back’s list of admirers, at one point, were Manchester United.

Amid the Red Devils’ pursuit of reinforcements on the left, Raum was identified as a potentially game-changing addition by the powers that be at Old Trafford.

The door, in turn, was opened for rival suitors to reemerge in the race for Raum’s services.

And now, as alluded to above, one such outfit appear primed to tie up a deal for the German international.

The club in question? RB Leipzig.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, ‘direct contacts’ were initiated once more between the respective boards at Leipzig and Hoffenheim on Friday.

This comes with the former on the verge of closing an imminent agreement for Raum, with just the ‘final steps’ to be sorted after the personal terms of a contract were signed off on earlier this week.
