Premier League giants Manchester United have come to the decision to drop the club’s ongoing interest in Juventus star Adrien Rabiot, according to reports.

The last week, of course, has seen French international Rabiot hotly tipped to seal a move to England.

This comes owing to surprise interest on the part of Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.

On the back of a nightmare opening to the new campaign, the powers that be at Old Trafford were understood to have identified the former Paris Saint-Germain standout as a prime target to reinforce the club’s midfield ranks.

A deal worth a sum in the region of €17 million, in turn, was agreed between the two clubs, with Juventus happy to sell ahead of the expiration of Rabiot’s contract in 12 months’ time.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday evening is anything to go by, then the deal, at the last, appears to have collapsed.

As per The Independent, alongside a host of other reliable sources, Man United have officially pulled the plug on their move for the 27-year-old.

Rabiot is understood to have requested a sum in the region of €10 million-per-year, backed by a no doubt considerable commission for his mother.

The club’s failed Rabiot swoop does not appear to have brought to an end the Red Devils’ pursuit of reinforcements in the middle of the park, though.

Instead, the transfer team at Old Trafford have turned attentions towards another high-profile target.

The player in question? Casemiro.

As per The Telegraph, United are giving serious consideration to a £50 million bid for Real Madrid’s long-time midfield enforcer.
