Tottenham began life without Harry Kane on Sunday afternoon in a clash vs Brentford in the day’s early kick-off.

However, though Tottenham have lost their star man, Brentford are also without their top goalscorer form last season, Ivan Toney, due to suspension.

When all was said and done at the Gtech Community Stadium, the points were shared.

Tottenham dominated possession in the early stages, with Brentford looking to press high up the pitch and cause issues for their backline.

The first chance of the game came 10 minutes in and resulted in a goal. James Maddison’s whipped free-kick was headed in by Cristian Romero.

But Romero, who headed in his goal, was then taken straight off for Davinson Sanchez seemingly because he had previously clashed heads with Mbeumo a few minutes before.

VAR then checked a potential Brentford penalty four a Son foul on Jensen, which was given after the ref went to the monitor. Mbeumo stepped up and scored.

Brentford took the lead after 36 minutes after Rico Henry found Yoane Wissa free in the Spurs box and the striker’s effort deflected off Micky Van de Ven and past Vicario.

Tottenham hit back late in the first half after Emerson Royal smacked in an effort from the edge of the box.

After a ridiculous 12 minutes of added time, the scores were level at the break.

Son probably should have put Tottenham back in front when he picked up the ball free at the back post but he hit it straight at the keeper on the hour mark.

Spurs’ attacking threat died down towards the end of the second half, with Brentford putting more pressure on the away side.
