Brentford Team News

  • Out: Pontus Jansson, Kristoffer Ajer, Keane Lewis-Potter
  • Doubt: N/A

Once in with a dark horse chance of qualifying for European football next season, Thomas Frank’s Brentford comes into the weekend on the back of a frustrating run of form (1-2-3) including a three-match losing run that now sees them sitting in 9th and seven points adrift of their 6th-sitting weekend opponent Aston Villa. Under Unai Emery, Villa has been reborn of late and is the form side in the league apart from Manchester City.

Frank needs to mastermind a fantastic team performance at Gtech Stadium on Saturday if Brentford still has a shot at Europe, but to do so, he must persist without key center-back Pontus Jansson who remains ruled out with a hamstring injury, which may extend his absence until the summer. Kristoffer Ajer also remains unavailable on account of a calf injury, while Keane Lewis-Potter’s knee concerns keep him laid up in dry dock. Few if any changes are expected to the XI on Saturday.
