As per the Daily Mail, Manchester City are ready to intensify their interest in RB Leipzig central defender Josko Gvardiol — valued at £85m— with out-of-favour Aymeric Laporte expected to seal a move away.
City, along with Chelsea, were interested in the Croatian stopper last summer but he ended up remaining at RB Leipzig where he enjoyed a stellar 2022/23 season.
He also made it to the semi-final of the 2022 World Cup with Croatia, though he was embarrassed by Lionel Messi in that game.
Despite this, the 21-year-old is still an impressive defender and would make a great long-term addition to Manchester City’s squad as they look to build upon their recent treble success.
Elsewhere on the incomings front, Mateo Kovacic is keen on a switch to the Etihad if a fee can be agreed with Chelsea.
Kovacic is expected to take the place of Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan, who is attracting interest from Arsenal and Barcelona now he is set to become a free agent.
