The player in question is Kalvin Phillips, who had a rough 2022/23 season at the Etihad.
Phillips is now technically a treble-winner, though he played a very small role in his side’s impressive achievement.
Phillips signed for Man City from Leeds last summer. In total, he made 21 appearances in all competitions, which, on paper, seems ok given the competitive nature of the Citizen’s squad.
However, across those 21 appearances, Phillips garnered just 593 minutes of action. And only three of those outings lasted 90 minutes – one in the FA Cup vs Bristol City and two in the Premier League when the title was already wrapped up.
As a result, Phillips’ future at the Etihad has been up in the air. However, the Daily Mail report that the Manchester City midfielder remains determined to stay despite Bayern Munich showing interest.
The 27-year-old emerged as a shock target for German powerhouse Bayern Munich, with the club sharing a strong relationship with his agent. However, he is keen to remain in Manchester and fight for his place in Pep Guardiola’s side next season despite a tough debut campaign and the imminent arrival of Matteo Kovacic.
