McTominay, now 26, has spent his entire career on the books of Manchester United.
The Scotsman had made a total of 209 appearances for the Red Devils’ senior side, scoring 19 and assisting five in all competitions.
However, with Manchester United back in the Champions League and looking to eventually challenge for the league title once more, most fans will agree that McTominay is simply not at the level required.
And with the midfielder currently having two years left on his current contract, now is probably a good time to part ways and still make some money.
One way United could seemingly do so is by offering up the player as part of a player-exchange deal.
CBS Sports say Brighton are interested in signing Manchester United star Scott McTominay as a replacement for Moises Caicedo.
And if Manchester United have a player Brighton want to sign, then that may give them the advantage and save them some money on the deal in the process.
