The Red Devils have been one of the more active sides in the transfer market this summer, even if all of their interest hasn’t come to much.

Manchester United began their window by signing Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, with the Dutchman expected to compete for a starting berth at left-back alongside Luke Shaw.

This was followed by the Manchester outfit landing Christian Eriksen on a free. Not the most spectacular signing in the world, but a decent squad option to have nonetheless.

And finally, Manchester United, after being turned down by Jurrin Timber, signed his centre-back partner at Ajax, Lisandro Martinez.

However, though all three players are useful signings, Manchester United still quite clearly need a few more new faces through the door before the window slams shut in just over a month.

Namely, United are in need of a defensive midfielder, an extra wide-man or two and, if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves, another centre-forward to compete with Anthony Martial.

Firstly, according to Spanish outlet Sport, although Frenkie de Jong appreciates the interest from his old manager Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, it seems he’s made up his mind that he’d rather move to Stamford Bridge than Old Trafford.

This leaves Manchester United potentially starting the season with Fred as their only semi-natural defensive midfielder.

Elsewhere, it has been reported that Manchester United are going to have to be patient in their pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg star Benjamin Sesko, as his current club have no intention of selling this summer.
