Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion have shifted their attentions towards Italy, amid the club’s ongoing pursuit of a new defender.
It is of course common knowledge that the powers that be at the Amex Stadium have set their sights on reinforcements at the back with a view to the new season.
To this point, meanwhile, the player most persistently tipped to fill this role comes in the form of Levi Colwill.
Chelsea starlet Colwill spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan on the south coast, shining on his way to earning a reputation as one of England’s next best stoppers.
In turn, it did not come as a major surprise when word was forthcoming that the Brighton hierarchy were keen to bring the 20-year-old back to the club, on this occasion on a permanent basis.
Despite allegedly being prepared to break their transfer record on his signature, however, the Seagulls have been left frustrated in their pursuit of Colwill, amid Chelsea’s stance that the Euro U21 champion is simply not for sale.

And, as alluded to above, on Saturday, an insight into precisely where has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that Brighton have set their sights on the services of Fiorentina star Igor.
In fact, Romano goes as far as to claim that the personal terms of a contract have already been agreed with the Brazilian.
It is therefore now up to Brighton to strike a deal with their Fiorentina counterparts, too, ahead of negotiations likely being kicked into gear at some point this coming week.
