Manchester United have already won the League Cup this season so despite their Europa League exit on Thursday, they can still complete a domestic double this campaign.
Standing in their way is a Brighton side who are looking to win their first-ever FA Cup to cap off a season that looks set to end in European football.
Here is 101GreatGoals’ combined XI of the two sides heading into the match. We are only using players who will be available on Sunday so the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane miss out.
GK: David de Gea
For all of his detractors and his lack of ability with his feet, David de Gea remains a quality shot-stopper and levels above Brighton’s Jason Steele.
RB: Diogo Dalot
CB: Lewis Dunk
Manchester United are currently having to rely on Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at centre-back. This partnership does not work at all, with both players far from their best of late. This gives Brighton’s centre-back duo an easy pass here.
CB: Adam Webster
Webster is a solid defender but if Martinez or Varane were fit, he probably wouldn’t make this XI, with Dunk the more reliable option for the Seagulls.
LB: Pervis Estupinan
Luke Shaw has had an ok domestic season but he continues to struggle to find the form he had ahead of Euro 2021. Shaw has provided two league assists this season, whilst Estupinan has provided four.
CDM: Casemiro
Casemiro is one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe, and whilst his form has dipped a bit in recent weeks, he is still a better DM than Brighton’s Pascal Gross.
CDM: Moises Caicedo
At the beginning of the season, Christian Eriksen’s form would have secured him this spot. However, the Dane has only started two games since his return from injury and not looked as sharp.
RM: Kaoru Mitoma
Whilst Mitoma is not a natural right-mid, his recent form dictates he should still make it into the XI ahead of the likes of Antony and Jadon Sancho. He has scored seven and assisted five in the PL since the end of October.
CAM: Bruno Fernandes
Whilst Alexis Mac Alister has been in good form this season, Bruno Fernandes has provided more goals and assists, made more progressive passes and more progressive carries than the Argentine.
LM: Marcus Rashford
An obvious choice, but with 28 goals and 10 assists this campaign, Rashford’s inclusion is a must.
ST: Anthony Martial
With Evan Ferguson injured, there is not a lot of quality to choose from in this spot. Anthony Martial has scored four league goals in 13 games this season, whilst Danny Welbeck has four in 23 and Weghorst is yet to score in the Premier League or FA Cup for United.
