Earlier this weekend, 101 covered reports that Napoli star Kim Min-jae, who has a £43m release clause, is garnering interest from Manchester United.
Now, on Sunday, a second Serie A stopper appears to have caught the eye of Manchester United.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United are among the clubs interested in a potential transfer move for Inter Milan centre-back, Alessandro Bastoni.
However, Manchester United look set to face competition for the Italian, with Manchester City and Tottenham also ready to test Inter’s resolve to keep Baston.
United signed Lisandro Martinez over the summer and he has formed a great partnership with Raphael Varane at the heart of United’s defence.
But outside of those two, Manchester United are struggling for quality depth, with Harry Maguire devoid of confidence every time he puts on a United shirt.
No potential fee is mentioned for Bastoni, who is under contract at the San Siro until 2024.
The 23-year-old joined Inter Milan from Atalanta in 2017 for around £28m.
He then went back on loan to Atalanta and also enjoyed a spell with Parma. Now though, he is a key figure for the Nerazzurri, notching 126 appearances in all competitions and playing a key role in their 2021 tittle win under Antonio Conte.
Bastoni is also left-footed, so could be used as cover for Martinez when needed.
