Arsenal spent the majority of the 2022/23 campaign sat top of the Premier League table.
At one point, the Gunners had an 11-point lead over Manchester City and even racked up 50 points in the first half of the season, putting them on course to match City’s 100-point tally from 2017/18.
However, the wheels, exhaust and everything else fell off in the last month or so.
Arsenal drew three games on the bounce before losing to Manchester City. This was followed shortly after by defeats at the hands of Brighton and Nottingham Forest.
The latter of those defeats crowned Man City as Premier League champions without them having to play a game.
And now, Bukayo Saka has been discussing Arsenal’s failed title push:
“It really hurts so much to even think about how we’ve ended this season and what could have been. But one thing I can say is, like you said, since the last two or three years that I’ve been playing, I’ve seen this team and the club grow.
“Time is on our side. You can look at our team and a lot of the players are young. We’re hungry, and a lot of us haven’t won trophies at Arsenal so we want to achieve big things. If you watch the way we all speak, we want to win and we want to win here.”
