As per Fabrizio Romano, Jonny Evans has signed a short-term deal with Manchester United that will enable Evans to take part in upcoming pre-season games.

No further information is given on the length of the deal or if it means Manchester United will use Evans in the 2023/24 campaign when it kicks off next month.

Jonny Evans, now 35, spent last season with now Championship outfit, Leicester City. The centre-back played 13 Premier League matches in a campaign that was marred by fitness issues.

Evans was then released on a free after his latest Foxes contract ran out at the end of June.

Evans joined Leicester in 2018 from West Ham and played 152 games, helping win the FA Cup in the process.

The stopper, however, began his career all the way back in 2006 with Manchester United. Evans made 198 appearances for the Red Devils’ senior side, including 23 in the 2012/13 campaign when Man United won their last Premier League title.
