The player in question? Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, who is valued at €30m by transfermarket.com.
Todibo joined Nice in 2021 from FC Barcelona in a cut-price deal. He has since featured 109 times for the French outfit, including on 34 occasions in Ligue 1 during the 2022/23 season.
When Manchester United were first credited with an interest in Todibo, it was claimed that the Red Devils were also scouting AS Monaco’s Axel Disasi.
The latter has since made a move to Premier League side Chelsea, but Fabrizio Romano has reported on Wednesday that United continue to monitor Todibo:
“I mentioned in April that Man United sent their scouts multiple times to follow both Todibo and Disasi – they’re very attentive to French market,” Romano said.
“Todibo is still being monitored, and we’ll have to wait and see how Man United will act. The priority will be a midfielder for now, so there’s nothing imminent on Todibo.”
