The player in question is Bayer Leverkusen and Netherlands full-back, Jeremie Frimpong.
A report from SportBILD in April claimed that Manchester United were very interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong at the end of the season and that he could cost around €50m.
The report added that talks had been ongoing between the two parties for weeks.
The Manchester City academy graduate joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 from Celtic. He has since made 95 appearances for the German outfit and had an excellent 2022/23 campaign. Frimpong scored nine goals and assisted 11 in 48 ties across all competitions this past season, all whilst operating as a right-back/right-wing-back.
Now, a fresh update on the situation has emerged over the weekend via Florian Plettenberg, who claims that a move to Arsenal is not on the radar for the defender yet, despite links with the London club. However, Manchester United continue to monitor the Dutch full-back ahead of a potential move.
Plettenberg also added an update on Frimpong’s price, stating that it is £35m, which is cheaper than the €50m SportBILD quoted in April.
Arsenal and #Frimpong, it’s not a hot topic at this stage. Instead, ManUtd is still monitoring his situation. Next
steps depend on the new owners. #MUFCPlayer has not yet taken a decision. He’s considering his options. But: Key player for Alonso.
