The player in question is Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund.
Manchester United have been linked with the Dane for a while and according to a report from the Athletic last week, Manchester United were hoping to pull off a player-plus-cash deal for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund because of their budget constraints. However, the Italian club insist on a cash payment for the talented young forward.
Now though, despite not being able to offer any players towards the Hojlund transfer, Manchester United have been handed some good news.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are preparing their opening bid for Rasmus Hojlund after personal terms have been ‘100 per cent’ agreed.
Romano adds that Atalanta told United they do not want the three players offered in the deal for Hojlund after initial talks, with their asking price around €65/70m.
Hojlund joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer.
