In one of the most shocking stories of the year, it was announced last month that Cristiano Ronaldo had his Manchester United contract terminated. This comes after Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan that saw him take aim at the club, the manager and many more.

In a statement put out last month, Manchester United wrote: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

With Ronaldo now a free agent, he is already being linked with a host of clubs.

Following his interview and his recent behaviour for Manchester United, including refusing to come on and leaving the ground early vs Tottenham, Ronaldo has come on for a lot of criticism recently.

“Ronaldo probably still feels in his 20s because he’s fine, he’s got the answers he’s looking for in his body,” Ancelotti told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport via the Evening Standard.

“The competition has become tough. “I’ve coached him (Ronaldo) for two years and there were no problems. In fact he solved them for me. Cristiano trains well, he pays attention to detail, and everything was easy for me to manage. He is an exceptional player.”
