Manchester United star Casemiro has, on Saturday, spoken publicly for the first time regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the club.
The name of hitman Ronaldo has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Old Trafford across the week to date.
This comes after the powers that be on the red half of Manchester opted to act on the future of their attacking icon in decisive fashion.
After Ronado set tongues wagging in taking aim at United in ruthless fashion during a now-infamous interview with Piers Morgan, the Red Devils responded by swiftly terminating the contract of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Ronaldo, in turn, finds himself on the lookout for a new club with a view to the January transfer window.
And now, as alluded to above, one of the Portuguese international’s ex-teammates has provided his take on what has proven nothing short of a staggering situation at the Theatre of Dreams.
Speaking to the media ahead of Brazil’s impending World Cup showdown with Switzerland, Casemiro, who enjoyed spells alongside Ronaldo in both Spain and England, was drawn on the 37-year-old’s exit.
And the midfielder went on to admit that though he has not yet spoken to Ronaldo, he is sure that the striker ‘knows what’s best’ for the remainder of his career, wishing the now-free agent ‘all the best’ moving forward:
“I haven’t exchanged any messages with him, but Cristiano Ronaldo is a player with great experience and he knows what’s best for his career. Of course, we’re sad a player like him is leaving. I wish him all the best in his career, except when he plays against me.”
