Crystal Palace have, on Thursday evening, announced the signing of an out-of-favour member of the goalkeeping ranks at Premier League rivals Manchester United.
The player in question? Dean Henderson.
The name of shot-stopper Henderson has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in south London for several weeks now.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the 26-year-old had been identified as a leading target on the part of the Crystal Palace brass.
Amid ongoing efforts to reinforce the club’s ranks between the posts ahead of the imminent departure of Vicente Guaita, the powers that be at Selhurst Park earmarked Henderson as the ideal Premier League-proven target.
After Nottingham Forest’s swoop for the England international reached an impasse, Palace, in turn, opened negotiations with their counterparts at the aforementioned Man United.
As per an official statement across the Eagles’ website and social media platforms:
‘Crystal Palace are delighted to confirm the transfer of goalkeeper Dean Henderson from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.’
The ‘undisclosed fee’ in question, it is understood, comes in around the £20 million mark, consisting of an initial £15 million, and further £5 million in potential bonuses.
Henderson has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Selhurst Park.
