The player in question is Napoli and South Korea centre-back, Kim Min-jae.

Kim Min-jae made the switch to Napoli during the 2022 summer transfer window.

He left Turkish outfit Fenerbache for £16.25m after notching 40 appearances for them during 2021/22.

He has since taken to the Serie A like a duck to water. Kim has featured six times for Napoli in the league, scoring twice already despite being a centre-back.

He has also played key roles in Napoli’s Champions League games this season, including the 4-1 win over Napoli.

Kim is under contract in Naples until 2025, but has the option to extend that contract by two years.

United signed Lisandro Martinez over the summer and he has formed a great partnership with Raphael Varane at the heart of United’s defence.

But outside of those two, Manchester United are struggling for quality depth, with Harry Maguire devoid of confidence every time he puts on a United shirt.

Varane is also pretty injury prone, so providing some cover for him would make sense.

And now, it is being reported that Kim has a release clause of £43m.

Italian football intermediary and former sporting director of Siena, Giuseppe Cannella has offered Napoli advice on what to do if the Red Devils come calling for their centre-back:

“Manchester United on Kim? Napoli must think about it immediately,” the Italian told Area Napoli. “If they come for Kim, you have to get another one like him. Because if you make a capital gain of around 30million in six or seven, months you have to ask yourself [should we sell]?”
