The latter of those four signings are not expected to play much of a role in the Blues’ senior set-up this coming season given their lack experience and age.
On the outgoing front, meanwhile, all of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Matteo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu, N’Golo Kante, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Cesar Azpilicueta have left the club.
So, whilst Chelsea did have too big a squad last season, they still probably need to make a few more signings this summer, especially after losing Wesley Fofana to a long-term injury once again.
And now, Mauricio Pochettino has spoken out on Chelsea’s transfer plans.
Pochettino spoke after winning the Premier League Summer Series: “It’s obvious that maybe we need to reinforce this area (defence).”
“We need experience in midfield. My information is a player that is from France will sign with the idea for some loan time. I don’t know (how many new signings I need) because if I say some numbers after I can create a problem. For me, it’s important, the club is working really hard to try and improve all of the areas.”
