Jesus started in Brazil’s last World Cup group game vs Cameroon but picked up an injury in the process.

It has since been revealed that the striker is out for the rest of the World Cup and also looks set to miss some games for Arsenal.

It has been reported that Jesus looks set to be out for three months. As per the Telegraph, Arsenal’s worst fears have been realised and he will require surgery:

“It is understood that he will need an operation to repair the problem with the time out depending on how he heals”, they report, adding to earlier speculation that he could be sidelined for as long as three months.”

It leaves the Gunners, who currently sit five points atop the Premier League, with only Eddie Nketiah as a natural option to lead the Arsenal line.

So, with Jesus potentially out for around 10 games, Arsenal may well need to dip into the market this winter to replace him, something Mikel Arteta has spoken about this week.

Asked if he was happy with the strength of his squad, Arteta added: “I feel like my squad is really good. Unfortunately, we’ve had injuries and we will try to see what we can do to be strong. We have players, we have a lot of accompanying players. [The question is] do we have the players that can give us the performances and the consistency that we need to maintain and improve from where we are?”
