According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Arsenal are very aware of the situation of Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi and everything seems to indicate that in the coming months, the Gunners will try to sign him.
Mikel Arteta wants the midfielder to join his squad in the summer and has asked Eduo to make an economic effort to convince Real Sociedad to do a deal since he considers Zubimendi can be a key piece for the present and future of his Arsenal side.
The defensive midfielder has spent his entire career on Real Sociedad’s books and has made 132 appearances for their senior side.
Zubimendi is valued at €40m by transfermarket but as he is under contract until 2027, Real Sociedad will likely be able to demand a higher fee if they wish.
The 24-year-old is a defensive midfielder by trade and would make a solid partner for either Granit Xhaka or Thomas Partey should he indeed sign.
However, the Gunners may find a move quite hard to do this summer as Zubimedni didn’t seem that desperate to leave his current side when asked about recent transfer links:
“Leaving Real Sociedad with the season we are having would be illogical. Here I am very happy.”
