According to Ekrem Konur, Newcastle are planning to make a €50m offer for RB Leipzig’s 22-year-old Hungary midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai.
This spells bad news for Arsenal, who are also looking at the attacking midfielder once more.
Reports from 90min earlier this week claimed Arsenal had a club scout in attendance to watch over goalscorer Dominik Szoboszlai and Dani Olmo during RB Leipzig’s 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich last weekend.
Arsenal initially tried to sign Szoboszlai in 2021 before his switch to Germany but, of course, failed to do so and whilst they may now face stiff competition from newly minted Newcastle, there is one boost for the Gunners as it is understood that the Hungary international has a €70m release clause.
So, if Newcastle did make a €50m bid, that could, in theory, be quite easily rejected by Leipzig.
However, it also means Arsenal would likely have to stump up the full €70m if they want to land Szoboszlai, which is a lot of money for a player in an area Arsenal are not that weak in currently.
