Chelsea kicked off the tie sat 9th in the Premier League and a full 10 points off the Champions League places.

As for West Ham, their spot in Europe for another season is gone, with David Moyes’ side currently in danger of being sucked into the relegation zone.

The tie ended in a 1-1 draw, which did not really help either outfit.

Joao Felix was one of the better players on his return for Chelsea vs the Hammers.

The Portuguese netted early on but he was offside. However, Felix did eventually open the scoring with a lovely finish after 16 minutes.

Chelsea were unable to maintain their lead, though, with former Blue Emerson arriving at the back post the tap in a flick-on from Jarrad Bowen and secure West Ham a point.

“I have played against a lot of midfielders and No.10s, and the first 10 or 15 minutes as a player you know a top player,” he said.

“The way Joao Felix worked from side to side to get on the ball and find space, he’s an unbelievable player. I noticed that straight away. You have to be really on your game with players like him.”
