Welsh international and Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson has become the subject of transfer interest this summer after an impressive debut Premier League campaign in 2022-23, but despite Forest’s struggles, the club are prepared to fight to keep the influential youngster after rejecting Brentford’s first advance.
Per information relayed by football insider Fabrizio Romano, Forest turned away the Bees’ £43m plus add-ons bid for Johnson, which reportedly included a sell-on clause, deeming the bid short of the valuation that could otherwise see the club accept a departure.

This comes in the wake of Tottenham also reportedly harboring an interest in the Welsh international, with the club short of players capable of playing through the middle of the front line after the departure of club icon Harry Kane.
The 22-year-old Nottingham-born forward bagged 10 goals across 44 appearances in all competitions last season and remains one of the vital attacking pieces at the City Ground under boss Steve Cooper.
Despite having yet to open his account in the new Premier League season, Johnson is still an absolutely key cob in the wheel for the two-time European Cup winners, having formed strong attacking partnerships with Morgan Gibbs-White, and Taiwo Awoniyi.
During a summer transfer window that has seen many domestic deals get within touching distance or eclipse the £50m barrier, it can be presumed that it would take a figure of similar or greater value for the club to give the Welsh youngster their blessing to continue progressing his career to the next level.
