The man in question is Ethan Ampadu, who joined Chelsea from Exeter City back in 2017.
The centre-back has played just 12 games for the Blues’ senior side, spending the majority of his time on Chelsea’s books out on loan.
And his last three loan spells have not gone to plan at all. In 2020/21 he was relegated from the Premier League with Sheffield United.
The following campaign saw him relegated from the Serie A whilst on loan with Venezia.
In 2022/23, meanwhile, the Welshman was on loan with Spezia, once again in the Italian top-flight.
And on Sunday, an unfortunate rule change saw the 22-year-old suffer a third successive relegation.
Spezia actually finished above Verona on goal difference in the league table, in 17th compared to Verona’s 18th, but have now been relegated after losing the play-off 3-1 on Sunday evening.
