La Liga giants Real Madrid have kicked efforts to land a key summer transfer target into gear, according to reports.

The player in question? Celta Vigo talent Gabri Veiga.

For those not aware, the name of youngster Veiga has taken its place front and centre in the Spanish football chatter across the season to date.

This comes with the 20-year-old in the midst of a breakout campaign.

All told, across Celta’s 32 La Liga outings to date, Veiga has been afforded appearances in all but two.

Not only that, but, from his berth in the middle of the park, the Spanish youth international has racked up a head-turning haul of nine goals and four assists.

For several weeks now, rumours have been in circulation in the Spanish media that Veiga has piqued the attentions of the powers that be at reigning Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Not only that, but, if the latest word doing the rounds late on Sunday is anything to go by, then Los Blancos, it would appear, have already taken initial steps towards striking a deal with their Celta counterparts.

As per a report from Spanish outlet Diario AS, Florentino Perez and co. have ‘made a move’ to bring Veiga to the Bernabeu ahead of next season.

It now remains to be seen whether Real are willing to meet the no doubt significant asking price for his signature, amid rival interest from a host of clubs across the continent.
