An insight into the plans of the powers that be at Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur for the final days of the transfer window has been provided on Sunday evening.
Spurs, of course, are fresh off an altogether solid start to the new campaign.
After battling their way to an opening day stalemate at Brentford, Ange Postecoglou’s men have since rattled off back-to-back 2-0 wins, over Manchester United and Bournemouth respectively.
This comes amid a productive summer to date, which has seen all of James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Alejo Veliz, Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon, and Ashley Phillips brought in.
Destiny Udogie has too at long last arrived in England’s capital, with Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski’s respective moves having been made permanent.
Evidently, though, the feeling in north London is that work remains to be done.
The info comes courtesy of the reliable Alasdair Gold, who has revealed that Ango Postecoglou has identified his chief attacking target for the final week of the transfer window.
The player in question? Brennan Johnson.
Spurs’ boss is understood to view Nottingham Forest standout Johnson as ‘the perfect fit’ for his system at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Preliminary negotiations, in turn, have taken place between the clubs, albeit with it noted that striking a deal over the days ahead will prove ‘tough’, with Forest understandably keen to keep hold of an integral member of Steve Cooper’s squad.
Understand Ange Postecoglou has made Brennan Johnson his number one attacking target for these final days of the window. Feels he’s the perfect fit for his Spurs system and versatile. Talks have taken place, tough deal to do though and it’s likely to be a late one if it happens.
