The battle for Declan Rice is now significantly heating up with Manchester City having made their opening offer for him last night.

City are now going head-to-head with Arsenal to land the midfielder.

Both clubs are determined to land him as they look to significantly bolster their options in midfield.

Man City’s rejected opening bid

Manchester City’s opening bid for Declan Rice has been rejected, according to David Ornstein.

City’s offer was £80 million plus £10 million in add-ons.

West Ham were left unimpressed by the offer and quickly rejected it.

The Hammers are holding out for £100 million although that could change given two teams are now seriously bidding.

Arsenal’s planned response

Arsenal’s focus now is just on agreeing a deal with West Ham, according to Ben Jacobs.

The north London believe if they do so, the 24-year-old will agree to join them.

They are now preparing their third offer for the midfielder.
