101GreatGoals covered a report from The Times on Tuesday, which claimed Chelsea are ready to continue their spending spree this summer and have registered an early interest in signing Paris Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe after he became available this summer.
PSG are ready to cash in on their star man this summer rather than lose him for nothing next year when his contract with the French champions runs out. One of the names tipped to make a move for Mbappe was Chelsea.
Since that report, Kylian Mbappe has taken to social media to respond to the transfer speculation.
In a statement, Mbappe explained: ”I have NEVER discussed any contract renewal with PSG. The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them”.
Now, El Pais report that Mbappe himself knew of plans to send him to Manchester United months ago. It is added that as long as the player was open to it – the suggestion is he didn’t rebuff the idea – and only if Sheikh Jassim became the owner of the Premier League club, PSG were studying the possibility of selling the striker to Man United.
