Chelsea’s Levi Colwill has confirmed that he is ready to make the step up to the Premier League in a recent interview.
Colwill is one of many talented youngsters currently on Chelsea’s books and, like many, he is out on loan.
Colwill, a centre-back by trade, has featured 28 times in the Championship for Huddersfield Town this campaign as the they push for promotion.
Should the Terriers not go up, though, it looks as though Colwill could be playing in the Premier League next season regardless.
When pressed on if he thinks he is ready for the Premier League, Colwill said: “I think I’m ready. I’ve learnt a lot this year so the next step I hope will be in the Premier League with Chelsea, Huddersfield or whoever.”
In the same interview, Colwill was quizzed on comparisons he has received to Chelsea legend, John Terry:
“I haven’t made the comparison myself so the fans and media can make whatever comparisons they want to make, it isn’t going to affect me.
“John Terry is a club legend and leader, someone every centre-back at Chelsea should look up to. A great guy and player. I’ve not had the chance to speak to him too much. When he was around the academy building we’d have the odd little chat but it’d be more of a, ‘Hi, how are you?’, kind of thing, not on a personal level about football or things like that.”
“I think I’m ready (for the PL). I’ve learnt a lot this year so the next step I hope will be in the Premier League with Chelsea, Huddersfield or whoever.”
