Rangnick was appointed interim boss in the middle of last season following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
It was expected that Rangnick would take interim charge of the club until a permanent boss was appointed before then transitioning into a two-year consultancy role.
However, Rangnick’s stint as interim manager did not go well at all. The Austrian guided United to their lowest ever points total in the history of the Premier League and suffered some very heavy losses along the way.
Rangnick then took the job as Austria national team coach before stepping down from his consultancy role.
Before he left, though, the Manchester Evening News report that Rangnick recommended four signings to United.
It is claimed Ralf Rangnick recommended Josko Gvardiol and Konrad Laimer to the Manchester United board before he left the club in the first week of manager Erik ten Hag’s reign.
Rangnick also flagged now Manchester City star Julian Alvarez as a possible attacking option in January before he joined United’s bitter rivals.
Rangnick recommended specific targets to #mufc in defence, midfield and up front and the club almost certainly won’t be signing any of them https://t.co/Pa3LDPdI4w

Whilst Rangnick did not go a great job as manager, his advice as a consultant likely would have helped United, as all of those players are much better than Marco Arnautovic and Adrien Rabiot – the last two players to be linked with the club.
