Joao Cancelo had been a mainstay in Manchester City’s backline for several years now.
His inverted full-back role has proven key to Manchester City’s success and inspired other sides in the division to try similar roles for their full-backs.
However, Pep Guardiola dropped Cancelo in recent weeks over players such as teenager, Rico Lewis.
Cancelo had been left on the bench in three of Man City’s last five league games and had only completed 90 minutes once in the Sky Blues’ last six Premier League games before he left.
This has caused plenty of speculation over the full-back’s future at the Etihad and he has since joined Bayern Munich on loan.
And though he has only been with Bayern a few weeks, Cancelo was also being linked with Chelsea.
“Joao Cancelo has played three or four games for Bayern now. In my opinion, it’s mad to get the rumours around now. Too early, people should let him play for Bayern.
“Chelsea were not in talks for Cancelo in January when he was available and at the moment from what I understand, there’s nothing more than speculation.”
