Cody Gakpo’s price tag has reportedly doubled following his impressive performances at the World Cup so far in Qatar amid interest from Europe’s elite in the young attacker.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United were linked with a move for the forward over the summer, in a deal worth around £40m, but nothing materialised as both sides looked elsewhere. Mikel Arteta’s side opted to sign Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira, while the Red Devils were eventually successful in their chase for Antony.
The 23-year-old has recorded an astonishing nine goals and 12 assists in just 14 Eredivisie appearances, while he also managed three goals and two asissts in five Europa League outings to date, helping PSV out of their group alongside Arsenal.
An in an otherwise ordinary Dutch side at the World Cup, he has come up with 2 goals in two games to help them take four points from their opening two fixtures against Senegal and Ecuador.

This, however, has proved bad news for previously interested parties, with PSV now thought to be holding out for almost double the 35m euros that they demanded in the summer. As per Dutch outlet Eindhovens Dagblad, though, his World Cup performances “has pushed his asking price up even further, above €50m”, while Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are paying close attention to his situation.
But, speaking after his call-up to the Netherlands squad last month, Gakpo explained that he had no intentions of leaving PSV midseason, though he will be keen to move on in the summer.
Should a mammoth bid arrive in January, however, as it could with Manchester United now Ronaldo-less, he could well be on the move.
