Yet another head-turning statistic surrounding the production of Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo on world football’s grandest stage has come to the fore late on Thursday.

Hitman Ronaldo, of course, took his place centre stage in the headlines once more earlier this evening.

On the back of a tumultuous couple of weeks, which saw the veteran’s Manchester United contract terminated owing to a remarkable rant against a whole host of individuals associated with the club, CR7 turned his attentions back towards matters on the pitch.

As the aforementioned Portugal kicked their World Cup adventure into gear courtesy of a group stage downing of Ghana, the talismanic frontman was on target, opening the scoring in Doha just beyond the hour mark.

After finding the net for an eye-watering 118th time for his country, it was quickly revealed that Ronaldo had secured for himself a piece of World Cup history.

This came in the form of confirmation that the former Real Madrid and Juventus standout is the first men’s player to ever score in five consecutive World Cup tournaments.
