Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr is ‘complete’, according to sources in Spain, with Marca claiming that the deal will be made official on January 1st.
The striker has been a free agent since the start of the World Cup, following an explosive interview with Piers Morgan that resulted in him leaving Manchester United ‘by mutual consent’ as a consequence.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect”, the club explained in a statement.
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”
It came after Ronaldo revealed that he had ‘no respect’ for new United boss Erik ten Hag, while he also slammed the majority of his teammates during his two part interview with Morgan.
While doing so, he is set to earn a mammoth amount of money, with the striker having been offered almost 200m euros per year to move away from the European elite and into the middle east, though it does suggest that interest around Europe in his services was not as forthcoming as initially made out to be by Ronaldo himself.
It will also make him by far the highest-paid player in World football, over double the next highest Lionel Messi, currently at Paris Saint Germain.
