The brother of Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat has, on Thursday, provided an insight into the mounting interest in his sibling’s services.

Midfield all-rounder Amrabat, of course, saw his name cast into the spotlight in a major way late last year, owing to his stellar exploits in guiding Morocco to a shock spot in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Afforded a starting berth in all six of his country’s outings in Qatar, the 26-year-old shone on both sides of the ball, culminating in widespread calls for an inclusion in the Team of the Tournament.

And, since, his star has only continued to ascend.

After guiding Fiorentina to the finals of both the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League, speculation has begun to mount that Amrabat will soon be on his way out of Tuscany.

Speaking to the media this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his brother’s future was put to Nordin Amrabat.

“He wants to go to the top, you are not going to trade Italy for the middle bracket of the Premier League. At Barcelona, he is high on the list but you know Barca’s financial situation. Of course you never know, it will be a strong competition when you see which names are going.”

From here, Nordin Amrabat then hinted at a potential Manchester United switch for his sibling, in revealing that Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag remains ‘charmed’ by the Viola standout, owing to their time spent together in the Netherlands with Utrecht:

“But my brother now has the intention to play in the top, preferably in Spain or England, I think. Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible. But I know that Ten Hag is charmed by my brother. He broke through under him and they have a good relationship, so who knows.”
