The sister of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social media on Sunday, to take aim at long-time rival Lionel Messi.
The post in question comes in relation to the respective international endeavours of the last decade’s two greatest players over the course of the last 48 hours.
In one photo, Ronaldo can be seen being tended to by members of the Portuguese medical team, after suffering a nasty facial injury during his country’s Nations League meeting with the Czech Republic.
Then, in another, Messi takes centre stage, laying on the turf after being the victim of a heavy challenge during Argentina’s 3-0 drubbing of Honduras. In the background of the image, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s teammates can be seen involved in a large scuffle, in an attempt to defend their captain.
And, evidently, Ronaldo’s sister is of the opinion that the two images gave rise to a fitting takeaway regarding the character of the two footballing icons.
In an attached caption, Katia Aveiro insisted that, unlike in Messi’s case, ‘strong people don’t need defending’.
