An insight into the latest plans of the powers that be at Premier League outfit Crystal Palace to fill the now-vacant managerial hotseat at the club has been provided late on Friday evening.

For those who may have missed it, Patrick Vieira was officially relieved of his duties at Selhurst Park earlier today.

Amid an alarming stretch of form, culminating in no wins in twelve and a trio of defeats on the bounce, the board in south London finally came to the decision that Vieira’s position was no longer tenable.

Now sitting precariously just three points clear of the drop zone, attentions at Palace, in turn, will now shift towards finding a swift replacement.

And, as alluded to above, late tonight, a fresh update on as much has come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of the reliable Ed Aarons of The Guardian, who has confirmed that a preferred candidate to take up the Eagles’ reins has already been identified.

Discussions over a potential reunion between the two parties are therefore set to be kicked into gear next week, fronted by Palace chairman Steve Parish.

Any such agreement would be expected to come in the form of a short-term one, in a bid to steady the ship in south London ahead of the appointment of a new long-term head coach in the summer.
