Said player is Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace, who was snapped up by the Eagles during the 2021 summer transfer window.
Guehi went on to enjoy an excellent debut campaign at Selhurst Park, playing a key role in Palace securing the 7th-best defence in the Premier League behind only the top-four, Wolves and Brighton.
Guehi’s fine form also earned him his senior England call-up in March, with the stopper going on to notch three caps for Gareth Southgate’s side.
Such a quick rise to the top has attracted interest from some big sides, one of which is seemingly Tottenham.
Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold held a Q&A on football.london on Tuesday evening and was asked if there was any truth to the Lilywhites’ links to Guehi.
Gold had this to say: “Spurs absolutely love him and I reported earlier in the summer that the 22-year-old was one of the names on their centre-back wish list. He plays mainly on the left of central defence where Tottenham now have Davies and Lenglet, although the latter can play in the centre if required.
“Spurs will look for another centre-back if Rodon and/or Tanganga depart in the weeks ahead but I wonder if Guehi would may be one for next summer when I’m sure a number of teams will look at him after the World Cup.”
