Arsenal currently have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah on their books as natural centre-forwards.
But with Jesus sidelined, the no.9 role has fallen solely on Nketiah and he has not scored too many goals this campaign, perhaps leading Arsenal to the conclusion that they need more depth up front ahead of next season.
One of the names touted for an Emirates switch has been Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen has been in sensational form so far this term, scoring 21 and assisting four in 26 outings across all competitions and playing a key role in Napoli’s dominance over the Serie A, which looks set to see them finally win a league title after many years of waiting.
However, an update from Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday suggests that Osimhen is not currently a major priority for the Gunners:
“I don’t have it confirmed, as of now. Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus, Nketiah, Balogun and also, Osimhen’s price tag will be really huge. I think Arsenal have different priorities for this summer, including a new midfielder,” he said.
