Arsenal’s impending movement across a busy summer transfer period is set to take off as Mikel Arteta’s Gunners look to bring in vital reinforcements for the senior team under the Spanish manager.

Continuously linked with the possibility of signing both Declan Rice and Moisés Caicedo in a pair of deals that could nearly hit a combined transfer outlay of £200m while breaking the club’s transfer record twice, there is scope to suggest that Arsenal will still be on the hunt for value acquisitions that will not take huge chunks of the budget away from planned spending.

According to Belgian journalist and football expert Sacha Tavolieri, the Gunners are in talks with Leicester City over Belgian international defender Timothy Castagne.

The 27-year-old versatile full-back has been a key figure for the Foxes since his arrival from Serie A outfit Atalanta in 2020 but unfortunately featured prominently in a Foxes side that failed to avoid the drop during the recently completed 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

Though not a star name or budding youngster that many fans want to see the club push for, Castagne’s fitness and availability is a notable plus-point for a player that features at an elite level regularly, not just at the club level, but also for his country at the World Cup as well as the Nations League.

A reliable defender, whose metrics show that he can be trusted on the defensive side of the ball while offering competitive data with first-choice right-back Ben White, Castagne’s price tag would reportedly come in around the £20m and could see the club move similarly for the player as they did for his compatriot Leandro Trossard during the January window.
