Match preview
Following on from a defeat to Napoli last weekend, Roma are heading to Hellas Verona on Monday evening in Serie A with the home side now 19th in the league.
Roma only narrowly beat HJK in the Europa League on Thursday evening as Tammy Abraham scored got on the scoresheet. Jose Mourinho’s side have moved into fifth in the league after the loss to Napoli, but at the very least, things are looking positive in Europe..
Roma have still won seven games so far this campaign, drawing just one other game in a 1-1 draw away to Juventus. They are, however, two points behind city rivals, Lazio, and they will need to win here if they are to make sure they get into the top four ahead of the World Cup break that is soon to come.
Salvatore Bocchetti’s men have not won a game since beating Sampdoria almost two months back. Worse yet, Verona have netted just four goals since that win and let in 12 in the process. The terrible trend continued last weekend with a loss to Sassuolo being the club’s fourth loss in a row, as Salernitana, AC Milan and Udinese all beat them too.
With this win the only positive for Verona, they also head into this one with the most games lost in Serie A with eight defeats on the board.
