Europa League Conference winners West Ham United continue to be frustrated during the summer transfer market after the Hammers are set to miss out on highly-touted Portuguese youth international winger Carlos Borges.
Per football insider Fabrizio Romano, attempts by the capital side to add the budding Manchester City academy product are set to be hijacked by Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam after De Godenzonen has jumped to the head of the queue for the Sintra-born forward.

Ajax has reportedly already put a verbal agreement in place with the player, with Borges set to undergo his medical in the near future.
Missing out on Borges would constitute yet another setback for West Ham across a summer that has already seen them lose captain Declan Rice to Arsenal while also parting ways with Arthur Masuaku as well as Manuel Lanzini departing the club after his deal expired.
Despite links with the likes of Conor Gallagher, James Ward-Prowse, and the aforementioned Borges, the Hammers have yet to secure any deals across the window and are also once again under fire for current forward pair Gianluca Scamacca, and Nikola Vlasić.
