St Johnstone have won four of their last six meetings with Livingston, including a 1-0 victory in last season’s League Cup Final. Just three of the last ten encounters between the two have seen both teams score.

Under 2.5 goals is 4/7.

Draw and under 2.5 goals is 11/4.

Bruce Anderson is 5/1 to break the deadlock and 15/8 to add to his 13 goals this season.

Match preview

From double cup winners last season, St Johnstone are almost certainly going to finish in the bottom two this year.

Last weekend, the Saints were beaten 1-0 by St Mirren at McDiarmid Park, a crushing defeat for the home side.

The good news for St Johnstone is that Dundee, the only side below them, are even worse, meaning the gap between those two remains five points.

Thus, victory here could rubber stamp 11th place for the Saints, which would see them compete in the relegation play-off final later this month.

In that one, they’ll play either Arbroath, Partick Thistle or Inverness Caledonian Thistle over two legs, so will need to find some form ahead of that massive tie.

St Johnstone have already beaten Livingston twice in 2022, 2-1 at Almondvale and 1-0 in Perth, so will be looking to complete the hat-trick here.

Livingston meanwhile are well clear of relegation danger and their aim is to finish as the best of the bottom half.

The Lions beat Hibernian 1-0 last weekend, with Scott Pittman firing home the afternoon’s only goal.

That’s back-to-back wins for Davie Martindale’s men since the split, having also beaten Aberdeen 2-1 at Pittodrie a week earlier.

Can Livingston make it three straight Premiership wins for the first time since January 2021 in this clash at the Tony Macaroni Arena?

Livingston team news

Scott Pittman was the hero last weekend, scoring the winner against Hibs.

That was his 287th appearance for the club, 124 of which have come in the top-flight, a new record for a Livingston player.

Top scorer Bruce Anderson has been struggling with injury in recent months but could return for this one to lead the line.

Goalkeeper Max Stryjek is serving the second of his two-match ban, meaning Ivan Konovalov will continue to deputise.

St Johnstone team news

The Saints are still without key players David Wotherspoon and Chris Kane due to long-term injuries.

Without Kane, Callum Hendry and Nadir Çiftçi will continue to lead the line, the latter still searching for his first Saints goal.

Shaun Rooney could return to the XI at right-wing-back; he scored the only goal as St Johnstone beat Livi in the League Cup Final 15 months ago.
