Match preview

Eighth-placed Juventus head to the Stadio Via del Mare this weekend with the Italian giants looking to get their third win in a row in Serie A for the first time this season after one of the worst starts in the club’s recent history.

Juventus, albeit barely in the title race early on in the league season, have won two games on the bounce while keeping a clean sheet. The Turin outfit defeated Empoli in the last game where Moise Kean scored, before Weston McKennie netted another goal for the season. Adrien Rabiot came back into the side with two goals late on too in a 4-0 win.

This result came just one week after beating local rivals Torino 1-0, as Dusan Vlahovic returned to the scoresheet with the game’s only goal. However, in losing so easily to AC Milan a week prior to the Turin derby, they remain without a win over the top sides in the league so far.

Lecce have moved out of the relegation zone in recent weeks, but are only ahead of the bottom three by a narrow margin. Their goals difference is superior to those below them, but with a 2-0 loss to Bologna on Sunday, the club have now extended their losing run to four games since beating Salernitana 2-1 in their sole Serie A victory of the campaign. Lecce would go on to draw with Cremonese and Fiorentina in October, before losing to Roma and Bologna.

Juventus will be confident in winning again after their recent run of form. At the same time, Max Allegri cannot afford to lose any more league games.
