Manchester United took on Brentford in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.

After losing to Brighton at Old Trafford – the first time that has happened in the club’s history – United were no doubt keen to bounce back vs the Bees.

Thomas Frank has put together a well-oiled machine on a budget, but Ten Hag still likely fancied his chances after handing Cristiano Ronaldo his first stat of the season and moving Christian Eriksen into a deeper midfield role, a position he shone in during the latter stages of the Brighton defeat.

What Ten Hag likely did not count on, though, was how badly Manchester United would perform on Saturday.

Every single player on the pitch looked disinterested and out off their depth. David de Gea took most of the blame for the defeat, and rightly so given he was majorly at fault for Brentford’s first two goals of the day.

Nevertheless, Ten Hag has now decided to punish the entire Manchester United squad following their shambolic showing in game week two.

Ten Hag asks for new players

After the Brentford game, Ten Hag also outlined Man United’s need for fresh legs:

“We need new players,” Ten Hag said.

“We need quality players. We are working on that and we’ll do everything to convince them to come.”

Adrien Rabiot looks set to be the next name through the door at Old Trafford, though how much of a positive impact the Frenchman can have on United’s midfield remains to be seen.
